Las Vegas
We thought of sleeping in a bit late today to recover from the jet lag. Woke up around 9am and decided to walk to a nearby mall to buy some stuff and have breakfast. Grocery and pharmacy items were definitely more expensive than in Australia so was our breakfast at Starbucks. Inflation has definitely hit the USA compared when I was here pre COVID.
We walked back to our hotel and then packed our baggage and walked back to the LAX airport. We took our South West flight to Las Vegas. Loved the paper napkin which gave a bit of history of South West airlines.
Flying over the deserts we reached Las Vegas.
Landing in Las Vegas was quite turbulent, apparently that's the case usually. We were seated on the left side of the plane and as we landed we had a beautiful view of the Las Vegas strip. I'm sure it would be pretty amazing at night.
Moment you come out of the air bridge you are welcomed by lots of slot machines, reminding you where you are, Las Vegas. Getting an Uber at the Las Vegas airport was interesting. I haven't experienced that process before, you call in an Uber and when the driver arrives they tell you the lane and spot they have parked in, pretty neat. Our Uber driver was a very interesting Koren-American man in his late 70s. He had a masters in Engineering and had well educated children in medicine and accounting. Las Vegas warm, we were definitely overdressed and was sweating by the time we got to the hotel and hungry. We ordered some spicy biriyani and ate well and had a nap.
We had napped more than we should and woke up and hurried down the Las Vegas strip to MGM for the Ka Cirque de solei show. I have seen O - cirque de solei show and Ka has been highly recommended and in its reviews and I didn't want to miss it while in town. It was an amazing show indeed. We loved how the acrobats were scaling the rotating and vertical stage. I think I loved Ka more than O.
We strolled back to the hotel after the show, stopping at the Belagio fountains for a beautiful view of the dancing fountains.
We went to bed early as tomorrow is a big and ealy day, our trip to Grand Canyon.
